Congratulations to Christine, Peter’s Heart’s first high school graduate and first paid intern!

The school year in Uganda begins in February and the back-to-school excitement is especially poignant for the newly-enrolled students in the Peter’s Heart program.

When schools break for the holidays, our program office space becomes a hub for students and their mothers or guardians to come for hot meals, games, crafts, and mentor meetings.

Thanks to our successful fundraiser last October, Peter’s Heart has enrolled 30 new students in the program. Learn more about how our staff identifies children in the slums.

The inaugural benefit for Peter’s Heart raised essential funds to support children and women in Uganda.

Making and selling liquid soap is giving mothers a way to earn money and distribute much-needed supplies to other families in the slums.

Peter’s Heart staff focused on administrative systems, year-end reports to the Ugandan Government, and planning for the next enrollment of new children.

Peter’s Heart helped place Mary at Muteesa II Memorial School and provided some medical help through Mengo Hospital. PH mentors have also been able to help her mother, Hattie, acquire a job at the neighborhood restaurant where she works in the kitchen.

Jay loves school and rarely misses a single day. Peter’s Heart also helped get him the medical care he needed to treat and cure his malaria.

Families received Christmas packages of rice, beans, salt, and cooking oil.
